Andrews Hall
Andrews Hall stands as a pivotal facility at Norwich University. It functions as the central hub for the institution’s athletics infrastructure, encapsulating the Athletic and Athletic Communication departments and most head coaches’ offices. This comprehensive structure is designed to support and enhance the athletic performance and administration of Norwich University’s sports programs.
Moreover, Andrews Hall plays a crucial role in the daily activities and training of the university’s athletes. It boasts Andrews Gym, a well-equipped venue that serves as the competitive and practice ground for the men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball teams. This gym is instrumental in hosting various games and events, contributing to the vibrant sports culture at Norwich.
The building’s utility is further expanded with specialized facilities such as the Athletic Equipment and Athletic Training rooms. These areas are essential for maintaining, preparing, and recovering athletic gear and athletes, ensuring that both are in optimal condition for competitions and training sessions. Beyond the physical aspects of athletics, Andrews Hall also offers multiple classrooms, integrating educational pursuits with athletic endeavors.
Additionally, the varsity weight room within Andrews Hall provides a comprehensive range of equipment for strength and conditioning programs that are pivotal for athlete development and performance enhancement.
A key feature of Andrews Hall is the Norwich University Athletic Hall of Fame Room. This space is dedicated to honoring and preserving the prestigious history of Norwich athletics, showcasing achievements, and celebrating the distinguished performances of past athletes and teams.
The Hall’s namesake, Paul Revere Andrews, achieved the distinction of graduating cum laude from Norwich in 1930. His legacy extended beyond his alma mater as he assumed leadership roles, serving as the president and chairman of the board of Prentice Hall in 1965 and 1971, respectively.
Recognized for his contributions, Andrews was appointed as a Norwich trustee in 1958 and later served as the general chairman of the Norwich University Development Program in 1976.
Andrews Hall, completed in 1980, was dedicated in his honor on May 7, 1982.
