The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder that happened Tuesday morning before just before noon in a Hammond apartment complex. Investigators said they received a call to the Tangi Village apartment complex on the West Side of the University Exit near Hammond and Quick Boulevard.TPSO said one man was killed and another man is in the hospital after being hit with a pistol. On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office released new information stating that they are searching for 21-year-old Tyrell Brister who they believe is responsible for this incident.Brister, 21, is accused of pistol whipping a man before shooting and killing another man.The man shot and killed was identified by the sheriff’s office as 22-year-old Malcom Toney. Deputies said the victim pistol whipped by Brister was Toney’s brother. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said Brister is considered armed and dangerous. He is facing several charges including second degree murder, aggravated assault by drive-by, and aggravated battery. Anyone with information on Brister’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
