10 Top Kitchen Color Palettes of 2026

Kitchens have gone from utilitarian spaces to design statements in recent years. Color has played a central role, setting a stylish tone through cabinetry, backsplashes, and countertops. To get the pulse on what we can expect to see next season, we tapped kitchen design experts to share their predictions.

“The kitchens of 2026 are not going to have a large contrast from kitchens of the past couple years, but we are seeing a tasteful shift from the all-white sterile kitchens to kitchens that feel warmer, softer, more inviting, and intimate,” says Suzette Conrad, a home trend expert and marketing director at BOLT Builders.

Instead of minimalist kitchens that look more like showrooms, people are craving gathering spaces that exude warmth, embrace personality, and take cues from nature. Here’s what the pros say you can expect kitchen color palettes to look like in 2026.

1. Cashmere Kitchens: Refined Warm Neutrals

Instead of stark whites, refined warm neutrals that exude traditional elegance are taking over kitchen color palettes in 2026. “Searches for ‘cashmere kitchen’ were popular towards the end of 2025, and you can expect to see that carry into 2026,” Conrad says. Kitchen color schemes will center around warm, layered neutrals inspired by natural materials.

“Think mushroom grays, soft taupes, creamy putty, and earthy sands,” says Laura O’Brien, interior and kitchen designer and founder of O’Brien Harris. Just like cashmere, these neutrals add warmth in a chic way. “These tones create a serene backdrop that enhances the tactile quality of the cabinetry and complements a home’s architectural details, inviting a sense of calm and timelessness to the heart of the home,” O’Brien says.

2. Wood Cabinetry

“In 2026, I predict that we will be seeing cabinetry in oak and walnut in warm and medium brown tones,” says Jeff Andrews of Jeff Andrews Design, on behalf of Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove. Wood cabinetry has been on the rise, and according to the National Kitchen & Bath Association 2026 Kitchen Trends Report, wood grain has surpassed painted cabinets as 59% of designers identified it as growing in popularity, with white oak being the top wood choice.

There is a neutral quality to wood that lends itself well to pairing with a variety of paint colors for a two-tone design—something Andrews expects will be popular. “We will also be seeing wood and painted cabinetry combined in kitchens in 2026,” he says.

3. Two-Tone Cabinetry

If you can’t decide between painted or wooden cabinets, the good news is you don’t have to. “Two-tone cabinetry is going to be huge, with lighter upper cabinets paired with a deeper base cabinet or natural wood,” Conrad says.

Cabinetry typically takes up a significant amount of wall space in a kitchen, and breaking it up into two colors creates contrast, prevents a single color from overwhelming the space, and allows for the introduction of a natural material such as wood. If you want to give the two-tone cabinetry trend on a smaller scale, try a contrasting kitchen island color.

4. Appliances in Bold Hues

Appliances used to be purely functional kitchen elements, but they’re taking on a stylish new role in 2026. “People are not shying away from expressing their personality through color,” says Shae Wilder, manager of designer relations at BlueStar. She is noticing a departure from cookie-cutter kitchens and says appliances in bold hues are the trend to watch.

“Purple is the new kitchen blue—we’re seeing plums, burgundies, and deep purples,” Wilder shares. In addition to deep-grounded colors like purples, browns, and burgundies, she says pink in various shades is making a surprising appearance in 2026

5. Nature-Inspired and Earth-Toned Backsplashes

According to the National Kitchen & Bath Association 2026 Kitchen Trends Report, 86% of designers say that earthy shades such as greens will dominate kitchens in 2026. Backsplash trends confirm this overall kitchen color trend, with nature-inspired greens and warm earth tones taking the spotlight.

“Shades of green such as avocado, sage, and forest green are perfect for a chic biophilic touch,” says Lindsay Fluckiger, host of Tile Trends x Tile Club. For an organic feel, Fluckiger suggests earth tones and warm shades of caramel, gold, and brown. “Pairing green and warm neutrals creates a combo that is calming and serene, but also energizing,” she says.

6. Cream and Beige Taj Mahal Countertops

Taj Mahal countertops have been all the rage recently, and kitchen experts expect they’ll be a big hit in the new year. “I’m seeing the Taj Mahal counters really beginning to rise as a trend, and I predict this will be popular in 2026,” says Teri Simone, head of design and marketing at Nieu Cabinet Doors. The countertop is a lighter option featuring cream and beige tones with soft golden veining. “As people are leaning towards warmer neutrals as a color story and away from stark whites, this quartzite is a natural choice, known for its durability, too,” Simone says.

7. Mixed Metals

Gone are the days of matchy-matchy everything in kitchen design. Instead of cabinet pulls matching the faucet and island pendant lights, experts encourage mixing metals for a more layered, high-end look. “The mixed metal trend is not going anywhere,” Wilder says. To do it right, choose one primary metal, layer it with one or two complementary metals, varying their finishes, too.

8. Stainless Steel as a Design Statement

“While stainless steel was once a purely utilitarian choice, it is reemerging as a statement of confidence and craftsmanship,” Andrews says. To embrace the classic industrial chic aesthetic of a true chef’s kitchen, the designer suggests incorporating stainless steel appliances that offer as much performance as they do visual presence. “We have been working to hide appliances for so long, but we’re ready to embrace this classic look in the home kitchen,” Andrews says.

9. Natural Stone Countertops

“Natural stone continues to reign supreme, with client demand for authentic marble and quartzite showing no signs of lessening,” O’Brien shares. The designer says there’s interest both in light countertops because of their timeless appeal, as well as dark stones with dramatic veining for the sculptural depth and richness that it adds. “The key is selecting stone that feels genuine and unique, reinforcing the kitchen’s role as a cherished gathering space with character and provenance,” O’Brien says.

10. Add Color and Texture with Mesh Insert Cabinetry

A trend Conrad says you can expect to in 2026 is adding character to kitchen cabinets. Instead of introducing a new color through two-tone cabinets, maintain your existing color scheme with a textured element. “You can expect to see a lot more mesh-insert cabinetry,” Conrad predicts. The expert says it’s a great look for wet bars and cabinet pantry doors. “It instantly elevates space, gives it a little personality, and adds that warm texture homeowners are looking for,” she says.
