At Home, the Texas-based home decor superstore chain, is set to emerge from bankruptcy after a federal court approved its restructuring plan on Oct. 1, 2025.

The plan eliminates nearly $2 billion in debt and provides access to $500 million in financing, which the company says will position it for future success.

Despite this new chapter, At Home is not escaping without cuts. As part of its restructuring, At Home will close 31 stores out of its more than 220 nationwide locations.

CEO Brad Weston said the restructuring represents a “milestone” in setting At Home up for stability and profitability after months of financial strain caused by inflation, high interest rates, and retail market pressures.

The At Home store in Tempe, 1050 W. Elliot Road, is among the 31 U.S. locations set to close.

How many At Home stores are closing?

At Home is closing 31 operational stores across the country, plus six non-operational stores, bringing the total to 37 closures.

The states that will have store closures are California, Illinois, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

Why is At Home going out of business?

At Home isn’t going out of business entirely, but it filed for bankruptcy in June 2025 due to nearly $2 billion in debt, economic pressures, and challenges within the retail sector. The closures are part of its restructuring plan to cut costs and boost profitability. The majority of its stores will remain open.
